Siapa itu Tun Ismail Ali?
Tun Ismail Ali adalah Gabenor Bank Negara MALAYSIA yang PERTAMA.
Walaupun yang menubuhkan BNM ada lah Tan Sri W.H. Wilcock tapi Tun Ismail Ali adalah rakyat MALAYSIA yang PERTAMA memegang jawatan GABENOR dari tahun 1962-1980.
Beliau juga merupakan abang kepada isteri Perdana Menteri, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Ali.

Bagi mengenali beliau dengan lebih dekat serta mengenang jasa dan keringat yang telah diusahakan, Muzium Bank Negara telah mengadakan satu pameran khas mengenai Tun Ismail Ali.

Jemput datang beramai-ramai ke Muzium Bank Negara Malaysia di Sasana Kijang.

Tun Ismail Ali, the first Malaysian Governor, was an instrumental figure in establishing the foundations of the Bank and the nation. Born in 1918 before the country’s independence from the British, Tun Ismail Ali was a hardworking and diligent man who was always eager to contribute to the nation. He served the Bank as Governor for 18 years before stepping down in 1980 to be the Chairman of Permodalan Nasional Berhad.

The exhibition is divided into two main sections – the memorial section that chronicles Tun Ismail Ali’s life and the art section that showcases the Bank’s art collection acquired during his tenure as Governor.

Memorial Section
Learn about the legend, Tun Ismail Ali, through stories about his virtues and principles not only from his days at the Bank but also from his childhood in Klang and Kuala Lumpur, his formative years abroad in Cambridge through World War II, his work at the Malayan Civil Service and his contributions to Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB).
The exhibition will take you through an exhilarating journey that encompasses his philosophy, contributions and achievements with more than 80 personal and professional artefacts.

Art Section: Tun Ismail Ali’s Pick
Get acquainted with our first Malaysian Governor’s legacy as a patron of the arts because not many know that it was Tun Ismail Ali who started the art collection at Bank Negara Malaysia. Right from the beginning, he endorsed young and emerging local artists of his time such as Syed Ahmad Jamal, Latiff Mohidin and Ibrahim Hussein.
